Babysitting Course Registration
During the summer months and school breaks, Routes Youth Centre offers opportunities for youth to take a Babysitting Course. This course covers important topics including infant care, child care, health and safety information and it is recognized by the Canada Safety Council. The course also features guest speakers as well as opportunities for hands-on learning.
The fee for the course is $50.
This summer there are two sessions available:
July 2025 Session
Thursday, July 17, 2025
: 10am - 4pm
Friday, July 18, 2025: 10am - 4:30pm
Monday, August 11, 2025: 10am - 4pm
Tuesday, August 12, 2025: 10am - 4:30pm
To register for the 2-day Babysitting Course, participants must be at least 12-years-old (in the 2024 calendar year). The course consists of a total of 9 hours of instruction time, a 1-hour final exam on day 2, and time for breaks, lunch, and hands-on activities. Each participant will receive a Babysitting Manual to keep. Light lunch provided by Routes Youth Centre.
*To graduate from the Babysitting Course, participants must attend both days and successfully complete the final exam*

Home Alone Course Registration
To register for the Home Alone Course, participants must be at least 10-years-old (in the 2025 calendar year). The course consists of a total of 3 hours of instruction time, a 1-hour final exam and time for breaks, lunch, and hands-on activities. Each participant will receive a Home Alone Manual to keep. Lunch will be provided by Routes Youth Centre.
*To graduate from the Home Alone Course, participants must be present for all instructional time and successfully complete the final exam*
NOTE: The final exam will cover only the material found in the Home Alone Manual that is handed out to students the first day of the course.
