CARMYN JACK-MURPHY

Routes Youth Centre is pleased to announce the appointment of Carmyn Jack-Murphy as the new Centre Director.


As a Child and Youth Care Practitioner, Carmyn believes strongly in taking a strengths-based and youth centered approach to her work with youth. Carmyn brings a wealth of child and youth work experience to the role and a commitment to the Routes community through her previous roles at Routes including her most recent work as Youth Resiliency Specialist. "It is so important that we advocate for our youth as they build peer relationships and find their strengths and passions during their formative years. Routes gives youth the space to feel a sense of belonging and form connections with their community, which is key in building their resiliency."

We are excited to have Andrew at Routes at our Youth Program Coordinator!


Andrew started his journey at Routes as a volunteer, later joining the Routes team as a part of the Canada Summer Jobs program. He comes with an extensive background in event organization, a passion for developing inclusive programming, and several years experience at Routes as a Youth Worker. "I'm very fortunate to have the opportunity to do engaging, meaningful, and impactful work with youth in my community." He values providing a positive space for youth to feel safe, comfortable, and respected while they enjoy their childhoods and grow as individuals.

Mohamed is a student in the Masters of Applied Health Sciences program at Brock University. We are thrilled to have Mohamed's youth work support: "Every person is born with the right to be celebrated, respected, and honoured. I can’t wait to help create a positive environment for youth to grow and develop into strong, compassionate, and valuable members of our community.”

Alexa is currently studying Psychology at McMaster University and we are delighted to have had her as a Youth Worker at Routes for the last four years! Alexa brings a dedication to youth work, and can be found planning for field trips, special events, and helping us secure a winning spot in the annual Dundas Cactus Festival Parade.

ELLA MURPHY

Ella is going into her fourth year of Social Psychology at McMaster University. She is studying to become a Child Life Specialist and has been working with children and youth for around 7 years. "I believe that every child deserves the right to feel safe and have a community that supports them." Ella strives to accomplish this every day that she is at Routes. We feel very lucky to have Ella's support as part of our staff team!
